The fourth selection of old images of Fife reminds us that Fife, in common with much of Scotland, suffered badly in the 1960s when swathes of old buildings were demolished and replaced with modern houses. Although the motives behind the renewal programme were of the best intentions, many historic buildings were swept away before it was realised that the facades of the old houses could be kept while the interiors were brought up to date.
The old photographs in this book shows many of the towns and villages as they once were, and includes Ceres, Ladybank, Cupar, Leuchars, and views of St Andrews including the long-established Lammas Market, and the legendary Tom Morris on the Old Course. Kirkcaldy, Burntisland, Dunfermline, Leven and Methil are also featured.
