A follow-up to Campbeltown in Days Gone By, this book has a selection of around 80 images of Kintyre as a whole in the early 1900s, again drawing from the wonderful archive of Charles and Dennis MacGrory's photographs.
Kintyre in Days Gone By covers not only Campbeltown but Machrihanish, Drumlemble, Stewarton, Southend, Carradale, the lighthouses at the Mull of Kintyre and Davaar Island, Kilkenzie, Clachan and Tarbert.
There are also images of the Campbeltown to Tarbert stage coach, the narrow-gauge railway, the short-lived Fessenden wireless telegraph station, early golfing photographs, travelling people, and farm and rural scenes, all with explanatory captions. The book gives a flavour of how Kintyre people lived and worked in Victorian and Edwardian days.
